In commemoration of six consecutive generations of witches and wizards Types of Witch

What most people know about Witches, Wizards and the Occult tends generally to have been gained through the media, movies and books; most of which portray the subject at best sensationally, and at worst through filtered vision that talks of black magic and sinister gatherings in the middle of the night or on the night of a full moon. Nothing could be further from the truth, but of course without the sensationalism papers, books and movies simply would not sell would they?

Magic is no different from science. Once can use science to heal, cure and for human advancement and progression or one can use it to create weapons and even develop the potential to destroy the whole of humanity through weapons of mass destruction. Thankfully, witchcraft has no such weapons, and it certainly does not have a history of destruction. The truth is quite the reverse in fact, and it is those whose desire it was to use witchcraft for their own personal, political or religious ends whose own history shows the darker side of humanity and the satanic depth of which mankind is only too capable.

There are many types of witches and forms of witchcraft, AND  many are mere 20th Century ideas based upon a mish mash of various and different disciplines and belief systems. Not so different to modern religions in fact.

You may have heard of the Wiccan Rede or the Wiccan Way which forms the basis for all authentic forms of witchcraft. Its maxim is simple and unambiguous, stating that one should send out only that which one wishes to receive; unlike more modern 20th Century; and by default less authentic versions of the original craft like The law of Thelema for example which states "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will." This law was developed by the notorious Aleister Crowley in the early 1800’s. You will recall that he was the English

writer and ceremonial magician who created the philosophical system called Thelema and spelled magic ‘majick’. Nevertheless, let us return to the different types of witchcraft and magic.
